Kathrin Ess

October 2020 “The Wondrous Journey & A Place Called Home” · Kathrin Ess is a writer. Usually. But when dramatic change hit her life in 2018, she felt there was no better way to cope with it than through paint.

In a cycle of acrylic paintings called "The Wondrous Journey" Kathrin takes the viewers with her on her travels through a troubled time – each picture being a colorful surrealist catharsis, shaking off the pain of change.

Now – for the very first time – she presents a selection of these paintings to the public at Bricks and Mortar.

And since Kathrin’s creative mind is not only fed by sadness, they’re accompanied by some of her mixed media artworks, which she summarizes under the title of "A Place Called Home" – an expression of her way of seeing human beings, nature and the city as a unified entity.
